One Year Cat-iversary

Come celebrate Catty Corner’s one-year anniversary with us! 🎉
For the past year, the Catty Corner team has worked tirelessly to transform our lounge and shelter into a healthy and happy space for cats as they await their furever homes.
Over the last year, we have cleaned (and cleaned and cleaned), found homes for over 200 cats, and turned our lounge into a community space that fosters love and connection among people and cats. 🖤
We could not have done this work without support from donors, adopters, and volunteers–which is why we want to celebrate our anniversary with YOU, our community. Join us on October 3, 2026, from 11am-4pm for adoption specials, the Hard Bean coffee truck, vendors, giveaways, and more! 😺

Refreshed Space
This past June, the Catty Corner team embarked on a facility-wide cleaning and sanitization process. For an entire week, both staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to mop floors, steam crevices, replace used cat trees and toys, scrub litter boxes, wipe walls, dust ceiling vents, disassemble and disinfect cages, and reorganize inventory spaces.
The final step in this process was to install Aerapy’s UV Light Disinfectant Technology in our free roam rooms and in our sick space. According to Aerapy:
“Indoor animal care environments are continually exposed to viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, and other pathogens that can quickly contaminate air and surfaces — and stay active and infectious for extended periods of time — putting at risk animal and human health and lives . . .
Germicidal ultraviolet (UV) light is a well-established means of disinfection used to help prevent the spread of these threats. Aerapy’s study-backed, tested, and certified equipment harnesses the power of UV-C light to kill pathogens or render them harmless.”
We believe that this technology has drastically reduced upper respiratory infections among our shelter cats, while also preventing other common shelter-borne viruses.
Our goal is always to make this the happiest and healthiest space for our cats.

Goal: 200 Adoptions in 2026!

We are so incredibly thankful for every single adopter this year! Since January, we have helped over 130 cats find their furever homes! But we don’t want to stop there! By the end of this year, we want to find homes for at least 200 cats. If you are interested in applying for a Catty Corner cat, please visit the link below:
Adoption Success: Liam’s Road to Happiness
In June, a person reached out to us saying that a disabled cat had wandered on to her property. She did not have the means to care for this creature, so we offered to take him in. We were, unfortunately, expecting the worst. We thought that this poor cat might be paralyzed and experiencing a great deal of pain . . . so, we prepared for conversations about quality of life. But when this sweet man named Liam came to us, he was in good spirits! No, he wasn’t using his back legs, but he was purring and so lovable.
We got him into the vet right away, where the team at the CPHS Wellness Center did tests and x-rays, and determined that this inability to use his legs was not from paralysis or broken bones, but rather from inflammation from a severe animal bite. This meant that healing for Liam was possible!
Liam went through a round of pain medicine and antibiotics to fight the infection. Then, Liam started to stand and use the litter box!
This field of work can be heartbreaking . . . which is why we prepared for the worst when we got that first message about Liam, but we are so grateful that Liam made such amazing progress! Throughout his entire journey, Liam was the most loving boy, so we weren’t surprised when his furever family fell in love with him immediately. Liam, now Jack, is exactly where he’s supposed to be.

“Meet Jack! He is such a sweet, snuggly guy and loves being wherever we are. He loves digging through the toy basket to find his favorite mouse and hanging out on the back of the couch where he can watch us and everything going on outside. He’s fit right in with his three cat siblings and dog sibling and already feels like he’s always been part of the family. We’re so thankful to Catty Corner for bringing Jack into our lives and so happy he found his way to us!” — Jack’s new family

Where does your donation go?
When you make an item or monetary donation to Catty Corner, you are directly helping us care for cats. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations to Catty Corner are tax-deductible.
Catty Corner’s yearly operating costs total almost $300,000. We’ve already spent over $30,000 on vet care this year alone! Caring for cats isn’t cheap, and quality care means paying extra for things like supplements and medication, nutritional food, follow-up vet visits, spay and neuter surgeries, testing, microchipping, and foster supplies.
We understand that times are financially strenuous for most, so we want to recognize that no donation is too small, which is why we started $5 Fridays. If enough people donate just $5.00, we can purchase litter, spay/neuter and vaccinate cats, and even stock our shelves with cat food supplies!

Through Zeffy, you can set up automatic donations to our organization. To schedule a monthly financial contribution, visit: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/dollar5-friday-28. You’ll receive a tax receipt for making a donation through this platform.
And, of course, we always appreciate donations from our Chewy, Walmart, and Amazon wish lists! Our wish lists are linked below:
